Horse Packing Clinics at

Dreamswept Farm

Packing clinics coming soon after we are settled in our new location.

Come learn to horse pack and camp with us at this four-day clinic. These packing clinics are for those who wish to learn how to horse pack using low-impact camping. Participants will be expected to learn and help with camp and horse management while on the trail.

The four days of this clinic will be divided between workshops and trail rides. In the workshops, you'll learn how to pack, hobble, and high-line a horse as well as learn about survival clothes, map and compas reading, and how to handle emergencies on the trail. Also covered will be how to find an appropriate campsite and how to set up a low-impact camp. On the last day, participants will ride out on the trail and test their new skills by setting up a camp.

Cost for this four-day clinic is $250.00 USD. Participants may bring their own horses or use one of the schooling horses. If participants wish to bring their own horse, the horse must be assessed by Tamea Denault before the clinic begins to see if it meets trail qualifications.

Tamea Denault is s a CHA-certified pack, trail, overnight guide, and riding instructor. She has been a member of the Peninsula Mounted Search and Resuce (PMSAR) for the Pierce County Sheriff since 1992, where she has ridden on many searches for people lost in the wilderness in Washington state.

Some scholarships are available.
