Ethel ROLLASON


Ethel Rollason ca.1918

 Ethel Rollason , born 20 December, 1896 in Birmingham England was the 2 nd. of 4 children of Albert ROLLASON and Elsiabeth CHAMBERS. She grew up with her brother and 2 sisters in Bournville, a quaker community outside of Birmingham built for workers in the Cadburry chocolate factory.

Ethel studied art in school, and went to work as an artist in the Cadburry chocolate factory. In 1919 she became an instructor of drawing at the Bournville branch school of art.

In January of 1921 Ethel married John Dallons, and in March moved to the United States. They had not planned to stay long, but did. They had 3 children, Suzanne, Lillian, and John. Their family lived in several places in the United States, but for the most part settled in Los Angeles, Califorina.

Ethel became a naturalized citizen of the United States in Feburary of 1931.

After her husband John died in 1967 she lived with her daughter Lillian (Lee) in San Franscisco. She later maintained he own appartment in Santa Rosa, Califirina untill she died at the age of 94 on 2 August, 1991
