Motel Tales PosterMOTEL TALES by Stuart Ostfeld

September 1992 - ACME Theatricks Production, Seattle Mime Theatre

The lives and loves of Room #4. Tina and Del fight over chicken, Michael and Connie fight over the car. Leon tenderly recreates the memory of a love lost, while Lois politely abandons her lover of one night. Each of the guests in the single room or this run-down motel craves the unconditional understanding that can cure their loneliness, but can neither ask for nor offer it. MOTEL TALES is a darkly comic, bittersweet tale of modern alienation and temporary salvation in our rootless society.

Among the playwright's influences for MOTEL TALES was his participation in ACME's 1990 summer youth drama program at Echo Glen Children's Center, a Washington state facility for juvenile felony offenders.

STRANGE LOOPS by Samuel Blair, Nora Douglass, David Golden, Chris Mathews, Stuart Ostfeld, Greg Way, and the ACME Ensemble

January 1992 - 2nd Annual Seattle Fringe Theater Festival, Seattle Mime Theatre

A series of six plays based on the logic traps of conspiracy theories and the Semantic Naivety Quotient quiz by Robert Anton Wilson, co-author of the Illuminatus! Trilogy and author of the play WILHELM REICH IN HELL. True or false?:

All propositions are either true or false.
The electron is a wave.
The electron is a particle.
Francis Bacon wrote Hamlet.
A boy has never wept nor dashed a thousand kim.
The Federal Reserve Bank is controlled by the Bavarian Illuminati.
-from "Beyond True & False" by Robert Anton Wilson

What do we hold as orthodox and what do we see as the "fringes" of reason? The same skepticism that we apply to those things we consider suspicious can also be applied by others to the things we believe. Some times funny, sometimes sad, STRANGE LOOPS uncovers worlds of uncertainty in the real, unreal, and surreal. Join ACME in discovering what might have really happened to John Dillinger and all his parts… and while you're at it, why is everyone so interested in your Social Security number? STRANGE LOOPS is:

USEFUL. VALID. TRUE. by David Golden
THE YASGER VERDICT by Greg Way
EROTS MUBLA DROCER by Chris Mathews
BREAKING THE CHAIN by Nora Douglass
WALTER VISITS by Samuel Blair
THE ODDFELLOWS MOON CONSPIRACY by Stuart Ostfeld
