"A Thanksgiving to Remember"
We are all preparing for the annual Lemke family Thanksgiving celebrations. As always, Bill's parents and his sister and her family will gather together with us and enjoy a few days of food, frolic, and festivities. I look forward to seeing everyone, and for the first time in many years we will be a complete group.
Our celebrations started earlier than usual with the arrival of my cousin Diane. She came for a quick visit after attending a conference in Portland. It was a great time to catch up on old times and compare notes on our children and our busy lives. I only wish she could have stayed longer.
The other exciting and totally unexpected event was the return of Sasha and Galena, our wonderful friends from Vladivostok. Their acting company had returned to Seattle and Tacoma to perform Gorky's "The Depths," a five hour play in Russian, and as soon as they arrived they had someone call us. What a shock! I wasn't able to attend the play because of all the other planned company, but Bill and I dashed over to the theater for a quick emotional reunion, and Galena called me the next day to talk for a bit more. Her English may be limited, but we had no trouble communicating our joy in seeing each other again. This seems to be a particularly good Thanksgiving for me!
