"Sex, Lies, and Cigars"

I truly thought I would never stoop to writing about Bill Clinton and the whole Monica/Paula/sex-in-general fiasco, but for lack of a better topic I thought I'd give my spin on things.

Bill Clinton has always been a pathological liar. We elected him knowing full well that the man couldn't tell the truth about himself if his life depended on it (and politically it seems to right now). Why everyone is surprised at his seeming lack of morals and ethics is beyond me. Hell-ooooooo!!!!!

The key here is that some of us don't really CARE about his private life. I don't WANT to know about it. I don't WANT the media asking about my leader's sexual preferences, teenage escapades, or secret fantasies. I AM concerned with his ability to make decisions, and more importantly to stand for something, and if the media is to be critical of the president, let them question his waivering on major issues such as healthcare or homosexuality in the military. If I find fault in Clinton, it's in his inability to truly stand for anything. Yes, he'll initially speak loudly for human rights, but he backs down too quickly and allows politics to take the life out of important issues. But I think he's been a passable president otherwise.

I don't trust the people judging Clinton. Their motives and morals are suspect. I don't want to investigate their personal lives anymore than I want to dissect Clinton's past, and in truth, I doubt that any of the public figures pointing fingers and demanding impeachment could live up to their own scrutiny.

I once heard Kenneth Starr described as the love-child of J. Edgar Hoover and Joseph McCarthy. I laughed first, and then I sighed. We have wasted more than $40 million dollars on this investigation, and what have we gained? High sales figures for the tabloids, world ridicule, and a better profile for Paula Jones. Don't misunderstand me: I do not condone Clinton's sexual behavior. But, it's really none of my business. I just wonder about everyone's motives in this mess.
