"The Pleasure of Their Company"
The new school year began on September first for me, and my initial impressions of my classes were quite positive. As always, the children seemed so young, much more like sweet little grade schoolers than towering junior high schoolers. I had heard rumors from the grade school teachers that this was their best class ever, but since I've had so many great kids in the past, I assumed that was just hyperbole.
Now I'm not so sure. These enthusiastic students come prepared to learn each day. They have their materials, they have their homework, and best of all, they have their positive attitudes. My students exude happiness. Best of all, humor abounds.
These children value a sense of humor. They appreciate it in others and they show it in themselves. Their writings include witty glimpses into their personal lives. My students are making teaching fun for me, and I can only hope that I am making learning fun for them.
