"In My Opinion . . ."

"New Year, New Me!"

It seems  appropriate that I use the ringing in of a new year to ring in the new me. I'm back at work after my requisite recovery time from the bilateral knee replacements, and I couldn't feel better. Since last I wrote about my new, bionic knees, I've worked hard at my physical therapy, followed all the doctor's orders, and made the best of the few brief moments of sunshine in December, 2001. The results? I've ditched the walker, I don't need a cane, and I can take refreshing walks of at least a mile and a half with no problem. It takes 6 months to get to 80% usage and a year after surgery before the knees are operating at 100%. I can't even imagine how great I'm going to feel by November!

My new knees aren't the only reason I feel like a new me. There's the success I've had  being a member of Weight Watchers. I joined last year, and by my first meeting in this New Year I had lost 102 pounds. Nothing can make a person feel healthier than a balanced nutrition plan and a lighter body mass.

I look forward to next Fall since I should be at my goal weight and enjoying the full benefits of my wonderful knees. I actually don't mind turning 52 in a few weeks. I may be getting older, but I'm looking and feeling younger every day.
