Hi! I know there won't be many people stopping by, but if you do and you have an interest in Mongolia, stick around. I went to Mongolia in the summer of 1993 (God, it seems so long ago already). I will never, ever, forget that place. The land stretches for miles with nothing man-made to be seen but for a few ger's (tents) and maybe a single line of telephone poles along a dirt road.
Mongols are some of the nicest people on earth. They are straightforward people, to the point, but not cruel in the least. Mongols take time to enjoy life, knowing how fragile it is on the steppes. They do not generally own land, because their nomadic history saw no advantage in it. Since roughly 50% of the people remain semi-nomadic, there is still no need for ownership of land.
If you ever get a chance to see Mongolia, please do. You will not regret it. There are not many places like that left on our congested planet.
I kept a journal when I went to Mongolia and I would like to share it with you, so that you may enjoy it, and maybe give you a feel for travelling to distant places . . . in my humble opinion.
