This is the main national holiday in Mongolia. It lasts for three days where competitions for the three Mongol sports - horseracing, wrestling, archery - are held. The main competition is held in Ulaanbaatar where the best in the country come to test their skills. All the provinces, however, hold Naadam about a week earlier so that their champions will have enough time to travel to the capital for the national competitions. It is a time of great festivities as well, and most people are in a jovial mood. Days before, the markets will suddenly fill with foods and products to insure that all needs are met. And everyone wears their best dehls which makes for a very colorful assembly.
