Gerd, Rod and I went bike riding to the Railroad Station. They needed to get their train tickets and I just tagged along. After the tickets we went to the Art Gallery, and after that, to a few of the markets. Rod wanted to find another one of the silk shirts that he had bought yesterday, and I wanted to find where I could get bolts of silk (to take with me to Mongolia). Rod didn't find his shirt, but we both bought some slippers, and I found two places to buy silk. I might go buy some tomorrow. It's too bad they leave tomorrow.

I'm pretty exhausted. After riding a bicycle in Beijing on a dusty, humid, hot day with a whirlwind thundershower trailing us home - you'd be tired too.

I do want to say that Beijing is a bicyclist's paradise. It may appear chaotic at times, but in Beijing bicyclists are next to God.

It astounds me how cheap it is here. Tonight we paid for a three dish Chinese dinner w/rice & a beer and it cost 22RMB. That equates to $2.20 on the blackmarket. And it took 3 of us to eat it!
