Today was much better. I got in touch with Monkey Business Ltd., changed some money, found some good places to eat, and had a few conversations with other foreigners.
The people at Monkey Business are pretty nice people. They were really surprised that I wanted to stay for 30 extra days in Ulaanbaatar, because they said that I'd be bored to tears. They told me it wasn't easy to set up private tours/arrangements. Still, when they realized that I was adamant they got going on making the arrangements. Good news was that I get to fly back to Beijing as part of the package. Saved me US$300! Bad news was that they only accepted cash, so I have to cash about US$900 of the traveller's checks! It ended up that I gave them the money I had on me. I waited for 1 & 1/2 hours for this bank to open, but it never did. The bank I'm referring to is called Commerzbank. It is a bank where they will cash traveller's checks to US currency. I wanted to cash those and give it to Monkey Business, but no dice. Guess I'll try again tomorrow.
Found a few places to eat. I think there's even a place that will do laundry! Right now I'm hand washing when I shower. Cheap, too. Found reliable money-changers via Monkey Business.
Monkey Business took my passport for a few days, so I won't be going anywhere...
China's climate is a lot like San Jose's [in California].
