To continue what I was saying yesterday, I guess the reason I feel out of place is because I am out of place. I may communicate better than most Westerners in Mongolian, but still I am not comfortable. When I was out in the country I almost never spoke English, and when I did it sounded as if one was watching TV. Still, America is my country, if not my home (Guam will always have that spot). With all the macho-oriented, gun-totin', bigoted, greedy, arrogant people in America, I still have to admit it - my country is the USA. It's where I grew up and learned and experienced so many things. And if I'm going to help my country, I need to do what I've been trying to do - be a compassionate, observant person. For me, that is the way. Well, back to the world...
I was planning on seeing Bayaraa and mailing my letter to Tracy, but it's been raining all morning. Since I have no jacket (stolen) I'll just have to wait until it stops.
It stopped raining, so I went and sent my letter to Tracy and talked to Bayaraa. Well, I'm going to the Hentii to see the Onon River where Temujin was born. It will cost US$700(ouch!) and I've put down a deposit of US$100. I will use my Bank of Hawaii VISA card to cover the rest. We leave on the 28th and return on the 2nd or 3rd of July.
I decided to go see the Mongolian University. There wasn't much to see. Next, I decided to check out the US Embassy. The people there were nice. Seems they're going to have a 4th of July party.
I gave up trying to find a Mongolian-English dictionary.
The hotel people informed me yesterday that whenever I leave the hotel I am to leave my room keys with them. I've been so paranoid since the theft that I always took my keys with me. In fact, BeeBee advised me to do so, but apparently while I was gone riding for five days Shuren Co. (they rent the floor I'm on) wanted to double someone up in my room (my room's a double). I guess they were a little peeved at me. Oh, well.
God, it's going to be three, long days until I'm off to Hentii.
I haven't gotten diarrhea yet, but today I was partially constipated!?
