Today is sunny with few clouds. No rain?
I went looking for stirrups today. Checked a few shops in town, then gave up. Lauren, an Australian, was going to the market so we went together. I found a pair of stirrups there and paid US$15! Lauren was looking for a mongol knife set, but nothing turned up in his price range.
When we walked back to the hotel we were pretty tired and thirsty. We had lunch and then the ladies wanted me to try on the dehl.
They took me to the room where it was and brought it out. I was prepared to accept and be thankful for their effort - my earlier gloom had worn off. But when I saw it I was surprised. They had used that bright trim that I was not too fond of, but they made the knot button! It looks great, and it's made to my measurements. It will be perfect for winter in Seattle. I gave the lady who made it US$25 (9,500 tog). I think that was a good amount since I bought the material and most dehls are in the 4,000-6,000 tog. range.
The clouds have gotten fuller since this morning, but the sun is shining brightly. A pleasant day.
There is excitement in the air! Naadam is a day away. People are buying live sheep like Americans buy turkey on thanksgiving! You can hear them "baa"-ing on the balconey of apartments, and in the next few days they will be done.
I found out that Lauren plays 'go', so we will play after he returns from the circus in an hour or so.
