1 July 1993,

We prepared for leaving today and paid the resort manager, then left for Baiasgalan's house for lunch. We all had a good laugh over last night and I think Baiasgalan had a hang-over, too. He told me I was invited to come back anytime and gave me a number of gifts from himself and his family. I took several pictures of his family for them. I was touched when they asked for my picture so that they could have it for memory's sake. We were taking his father with us to Ulaanbaatar as a last minute arrangement, which was fine. Finally, we all got into the jeep and left.

Before we went anywhere, though, we had to find gasoline as we were very low. Unfortunately, we never got any since the filling station was unattended. Besides, we didn't have any ration coupons (though I think Altansukh had a way around that). Battoya said that they suspected that the station attendant had left to watch the horses being trained for Naadam.

As a result, we returned to the resort to stay while Altansukh searched for the attendant. He planned to get the gasoline before dark and then leave early tomorrow.
