Here is where you can also save a lot of weight. The major caution here is that you need to take plenty of food to replenish the calories you will burn. I thought I took enough but I lost 4 pounds without trying very hard! The greatest weight saver for me was all the nutritious but relatively light dried fruit. Food for one person: * Dried Fruit (3 and 1/2 pounds approximately) * Almonds (Approximately 1 pound) * Trail Mix (approximately 1 pound) * 7 two person freeze dried/vacuum packed dinners shared between two people. (You need to be careful here. For hungry eaters, these typically are not enough. We supplemented this with dried fruit, Clif bars, cookies, an extra entree one night) * Gatorade/Gookenaid or similar electrolyte replacement for daily water intake. (I buy in bulk and carry in plastic zip lock.) * Oatmeal packets for breakfast (augmented with dried bananas) * Tea packets for breakfast and dinner. This satisfied my caffeine craving though I did consider for a second taking a backpacking espresso maker. (Yes, I am from Seattle aren't I!) * 6 Clif Bars * Cookies (3 per night) * One very large chocolate bar.
