Welcome!
My intent: Give you information that the average
backpacker can relate to. If you are new to backpacking or the outdoors in
general, this trail is probably not for you...even if you might be going
with someone who has lots of experience. But, hey, there are always
exceptions to every rule. Be informed and be prepared that this trip is not
your average or even above average difficulty trek. This trip
is still one of the more difficult in North America.
It also might be helpful to you to know the person that is
giving you some of the advice on this trek. I know it was for me when I was
looking for information.
General information about me:
* 50+ Year Old Male (6', 170 lbs.)
* Hiking and Backpacking for 25 years
* Previous longest backpacking trip (4 days)
* Previous longest trek (10 days)
* General physical condition- excellent. Exercise
(aerobic and weights) is
part of my daily routine.
* Have done several glacier/snow field climbs including Mt.
Rainier in Washington state.
* Generally, very comfortable on my own in the outdoors.
My hiking partner:
* 30 something male
* Has done several glacier/snow field climbs including Mt.
Adams in Washington state and trekking in the Himalayas.
