We continue to receive new shipments of hand-painted needlepoint canvases. To see pictures of these, click on "Needlepoint" at the top of this page and select "New Needlepoint Canvases" on the left menu.
We are trying something new: putting diagrams and explanations of some stitches on our website (click on the word "Stitches" above). If people find this helpful, we will continue to add stitches and also to add other information that stitchers may find useful.
We have had it confirmed that DMC in France plans to stop manufacturing Medicis yarn. It is possible, however, that this yarn will still be made and sold, just not under the DMC name.
PRICE INCREASES
As we suspected, many products this year have gone up in price. These include a very limited number of DMC products, consisting primarily of the DMC "Z" metallics (now $3.25 per spool), tapestry wool HANKS (now $4.00 per hank), floss/pearl cotton color cards (now $24.95 each) and needles (now $1.25 per pack).
A few price increases are scheduled for some Anchor threads in June of 2006. This will primarily mean very small increases for Anchor Marlitt rayon annd for Anchor multicolored floss and pearl cotton.
A recent price changes affects Appleton yarn. The new price for Appleton skeins (10 meter/11 yard skeins of tapestry or 25 meter/27 yard skeins of crewel) is $1.25. The new price for Appleton hanks is $5.60. We have begun receiving shipments at the new prices so as of February 7, 2006 these prices are in effect. Right now we expect color cards to remain $35.00.
NEW THREADS
Lots of new colors of threads have come on to the market and many more are due soon. Here are a few of the new items:
Northern Lights (overdyed Needlepoint Inc. silk floss) and Gloriana overdyed silk floss are both coming out in new colors. There will be 10 new Northern Lights colors (with another 20 to follow) and 14 new colors of Gloriana floss.
Gentle Art Simply Shaker overdyed floss comes in 5 new colors:
Weeks Dye Works floss comes in 5 new colors:
DMC is introducing 24 colors of "Color Variations" cotton embroidery floss. These colorfast multitone threads will sell for $1.29 per skein and are expected in mid-May.
Kreinik has introduced 6 new colors of metallic braids (available in sizes 4, 8, 12 and 16 and soon in stock in ribbon as well) that they call "Dance Colors." They have also expanded the color range in size 4 braid to add several colors that were previously only available in sizes 8, 12 and 16 braid.
Neon Rays comes in two new colors, N-121 Royal Purple and N-122 Aquamarine. These join N-118 Christmas Red, N-119 Candy Apple and N-120 Merlot which are other recent colors.
Caron Collection has recently added 14 new colors of Watercolours and Wildflowers (on top of the 15 new colors introduced late in 2005). The fourteen new colors are:

Brown Paper Packages has 4 new colors of Silk & Ivory:
There is a new color card page for Silk & Ivory that shows colors 161 through 170. If you need this page to add to your existing color card, we will have them for $3.00 each. Because of this new page, the price for the complete Silk & Ivory color card will now be $51.00.
One color of Trebizond silk thread, Thyme Green Dark #733 has been discontinued. It has been replaced with color 734, Utah Juniper.
One other silk thread color, Soie Gobelins 1831, has been renumbered and is now known as color 3761.
BOOKS
We have received two new needlepoint books. One is called Canvas Embroidery, Volume One by Jane Zimmerman. This book is $45.00.
The second is called A-Z of Needlepoint by Country Bumpkin.
