Aslyn's Salmon and Trout Fishing In Alaska Page

This fishing page is devoted to the best salmon and trout fishery in North America, Alaska. Aslyn's Scrap Book

This is a new section that we have added to showcase some of the pictures that we receive from tour customers and friends. If you have a great picture, send it to us and maybe we'll include it in our trophy room scrapbook..

This is a photo of a proud 12 year old, Jesse, holding his first Washington State steelhead. Displaying the spirit of true sportsmanship, Jesse gladly releases this beautiful native fish, something that should be done with all native fish.

Phil Eckart from Harleysville, PA., part of the 1998 salmon assault team at Bulchitna Lake Lodge, proudly displays a bright sliver salmon hen that he took on a River Raptor lure of  his own design, something that he referred to as the BUL (Butt Ugly Lure). There were several designs that he used but Phil continued to find the BUL the most productive. He guarded his design well. The only thing he would say was the blade was black with a few "extras" for added enhancement. Randy Harwood, another member of the 1998 assault team came all the way from Crawfordsville, IN for what he thought was the trip of a lifetime and his only chance to fish the last frontier - he's already booked his trip for 1999. Randy caught this nice sockeye buck on a 8 1/2' G.Loomis casting rod custom built for him by Aslyn Enterprises, Inc. There was one morning when Randy caught 26 of the largest fish he'd ever seen in about 1 1/2 hours. His comment with a big smile, "this beats the heck out of bass fishin' in Snyders pond."
The 2000 Assault team descended on Bulchitna Lake Lodge and Lake Creek in late July of 2000. This crack team of fishing veterans was comprised of 7 dedicated angles from across the U.S. States represented were Pennsylvania, Indiana, California and Washington. Two of the team members (Randy "hit'em hard" Harwood and Charles "the Kenai Killer" Fulforth) were repeat attendees from the 1997, 98 and 99 Lake Creek Assaults .
2000 proved to produce the best run of Silvers that Alaska had seen for 10 years. At Bulchitna Lake Lodge, the run actually peaked about 10 days after the 2000 Assault team returned to "the world". That being said, the fishing was AWESOME and one of the best and most enjoyable seasons I've experienced in 12 seasons of fishing on Lake Creek. In addition to a bunker crop of Silvers, 2000 was what's referred to as a "Humpy" year. Pink salmon (Humpies) run strong every other year. What that means to angles is practically non-stop action. In a Humpy year you're either pulling out Silvers, Pinks, Sockeye, Chum or a King that's starting to turn a little red (like the ones at right). Oh, I didn't mean to leave out those pesky (?) two handed trout and Grayling that you frequently pick up while stalking those mighty salmon.

Steve "Bear Back Ryder" with a small (?) though slightly red  "two-handed" King pulled from Lake Creek. Based on his grin, I think that this is the largest fish Steve has caught - ever. Have you hugged your salmon lately?

Sir Ted "the Matanuska Maruader", hauled in one of those small "nuisance" Kings too. I'm not sure who had the most fun, longest fight or the heaviest fish, Steve or Ted.
